Galaxy Rice was originally a project of the Punjab Industrial Development Board in 1974, by the name of Doaba Rice Mills. The word Doaba Literally means Two waters. This refers to the very fertile land between the two rivers of Ravi and Chenab. Both rivers flow from waters of the melting snow, from the Hindu Kush and the Himalayas. The project was privatized by the government in 1992 and subsequently became Galaxy Rice (pvt) Ltd.

Rice is stored in high quality godowns which are designed for the necessary fumigation aeration and sampling. The fully equipped laboratory contains a mini mill, Kett whiteness meter and the ability to carryout Aflatoxin testing.

The level of horizontal integration achieved by Galaxy is almost unique in Pakistan. Experienced staff from the company visit local farmers and distribute high quality approved seed. This lays the foundation of a quality crop.
